I go through 50mm lenses at an awful rate. Gonna have to invest in a 1.4 next time for the better build quality…

Since the last post we just headed back to Tokyo after waking up to the view in pic 1, we hopped on the train in pic 2, then got to Tokyo after two more trains and checked into the Celestine hotel. Pic 3 is the view from our room on the 14th floor. Spent the last day or two wandering shops and winding down. Have a crazy amount of SLR pics and video to go through after this… Will put links up here.

We eventually got to our next hotel…

in Yamanouchi…

…and checked in and got settled, then went to the nearest restaurant for grub based on a little local map the hotel provided…

Brid stuck her head in the door first and thought it was someone’s house, because they looked surprised to have unannounced visitors, and it appeared a bit like a cosy Irish house with a few kids and a couple of adults chilling watching baseball on tv. The photos will explain better, but we spotted menus and they warmly invited us in and gave us tea.

I then got the biggest plate of curry and pork I’ve ever seen. Beer bottles the size of wine bottles, and even a souvenir each when it was time to go. As we were leaving the lady who served us made me put my hoody on as it’s so cold up here, even though we were only going next door. Pure mammy!

Went to the public bath after that and forgot my towel, typical. Probably left wet footsteps the whole way from the baths to the bedroom…

Checked out Harajuku earlier then hopped on another bullet train to the opposite side of the island. Now we’re on an old train to Yamanouchi and it’s snowing outside… Brid is ready to kill me if she has to get another train…

All we found when we went car hunting was that white Chaser covered in dust. Looked like it was parked there long term. We went back to the Canal Cafe and got a row boat for 30 mins for about €4. Attached the GoPro to an oar for most of it but noticed some water in the case so left it to dry out for the evening. Seems ok now, but it was a pity because if I’d had it with me that evening I could have attached it to one of the street drifters cars. Most of my pics from that are on the SLR so won’t be ready till I get home…

Stayed in Yokohama last night. Didn’t see much of it though because we spent a couple of hours walking to and from Daikoku Futo to look for action. Glad we found some!
